Toy Story 3 continues to set box office records. Just two weeks after it became the highest-grossing animated film of all time, it became on Friday the first animated film to gross $1 billion at the global box office.

The film also sets a high-water mark for Disney, which is the first studio to have two $1 billion films in a year, the other being Alice in Wonderland.

Toy Story 3 is only the seventh film in movie history to cross the $1 billion mark worldwide. The third “Toy Story” film has made $1,012,126,000, according to boxofficemojo.com.

“It’s been an incredible year as we saw the Pixar team bring Buzz and Woody back to the big screen and watched Tim Burton’s vision for Alice in Wonderland take the world by storm,” said Rich Ross, chairman of The Walt Disney Studios. “These box office triumphs prove that creative storytelling brought to life by imaginative, inspired and talented professionals is something audiences respond to the world over.”

Star Wars: The Clone Wars follows the adventures of Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano as they fight the separatist forces led by Count Dooku and General Grievous. According to the press release, in Season 3,

the dark side grows even stronger and the Jedi Knights are pushed to the breaking point. The lines between good and evil become blurred as secrets are revealed, truths are questioned and alliances are betrayed. Loyalties are tested as new enemies emerge and heroes rise – and fall

The new season also heralds the online release Sept. 15 of a new video game titled Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures, from LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment. The game is free to play, with subscriptions available that add new characters and items to the game play.
